Ghunsa ViewPoint
Meanwhile, the Ghunsa viewpoint is the best short hiking destination from Ghunsa village and it is good for your acclimatization to your Kanchenjunga Base Camp Trek. After breakfast, you can start your hike. First, you need to cross Ghunsa Khola after that you have to climb to Ghunsa ViewPoint. It is nice to walk through beautiful forests and a great chance to see some wildlife like Deer, Antelope, and Himalayan pheasant. You will enjoy your hike to great views of Ghunsa and Folley village and several mountain peaks.
Side Trip to Dudh pokhari Kanchenjunga
The Dudh Pokhari Kanchenjunga is a little bit hard and an adventure day hiking destination from Ghunsa village. You need to start your hike early in the morning after breakfast and you need to take a lunch pack too. You have to follow the way to Sele la (way to Kanchenjunga South Base Camp) for almost 15 minutes then you have to continue your way walking to the left side of the Ghunsa hydropower pipeline. The trail is small and Jig-jag so at a particular place you can miss the path. The walking is nice and beautiful through the jungle. You can meet some Yak’s farmhouse on the way to Dukhpokhari. The people at the farmhouse provide us with Yak’s milk and cheese (Churpi). The Dudh Pokhari (Milky Lake) is a beautiful place and there are two beautiful milky lakes. The second lake is a little bit far from the first lake and the second one is bigger than the first. You will be able to enjoy your day hike to see the beautiful mountain views and Wildlife. The Dudh Pokhari is the best side trip from Ghunasa. But just a few trekkers know about it and the trail here.
